Petition to Secure Funding for all Daycares who choose to opt-in to CWELLC

Petition summary and background

The Government of Canada initiated and funded the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system. CWELCC is a five-year plan to reduce the cost of child care to an average of $10 per day by 2026. This program will provide more affordable childcare for families all over the province. The program is made optional for daycares to opt in or not. At Kid’s Mondo, we believe in affordable high-quality childcare for all families and thus opted in. Unfortunately, part of the program is putting restrictions on rates which have put us in a difficult situation as a business. We are asking the municipality of PELASS, to provide us with support through general operating grants offered to not-for-profit daycares. These grants are to ensure that we can afford to pay the Educators a proper wage and run a quality program for the children. Since joining the CWELCC program, we are running our business as a non for profit business, but without support from the municipality.

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to ensure that all daycare centers in the CWELCC program are getting the support needed to ensure that they can not only maintain their business but have the means to run a quality program for all families.
